Abstract

     This research (Social Standards of Speaking in Kurdish Language) highlights the social standards of language, which are used as measures for organizing, evaluating and expressing the personality of the participants in a conversation. These measures are determined by individuals of the society and are all committed to them, which in turn play an important role in organizing and accomplishing conversations; they depend on the thinking of a specific group, and they change with growth of civilization as part of linguistic phenomena. Kurdish language, like other languages, has many kinds of social speech standards, which springs from thought and experience of its speakers, all are aware of them and participate in their implementation and are devoted to their use, they have their roles in accomplishing conversations, as well as surviving and strengthening social relations among individuals in Kurdish society.
         The research consists of two chapters; in the first chapter the relationship between language and society, their impact on each other and change in language have been discussed, and then the role of culture in forming the characteristics and changes of social standards as a linguistic phenomenon has been presented. In the second chapter the social standards of speech are depicted, and then all kinds of social standards of speech in Kurdish language such as (the quantity of speech (talkativeness, taciturnity) turn to speak (taking turn, interruption), voice-raising, respectful speaking, indirect expressing) have been shed light on, furthermore, the way of using these rules of these criteria based on social signs and change in the thinking of the community are presented with examples.
