Abstract

This study targets the efforts of one of the scientists who struggled for preserving the integrity of the Arabic language, Ya’qub Ibn Al-Sikit Al-Kufi (246 AH), where he collected the vocabulary of the language from its original sources, by collecting linguistic material from the mouths of the eloquent Arabs directly and from the books of prominent scholars in the field of novel The language and dealt with it in order, classification, explanation and statement, especially in his book (Al-Alafad), which represents the oldest lexicons of meanings with (algharib al-mussanaf) by (Abu Obeid) In the Arabic dictionary's history, And (Al-alfad) influenced everyone who composed after it in lexicons, such as Ibn Manzur (711 AH) in (Lisan al-Arab), Al-Zubaidi (1205 AH) in (Taj al-Arous) and Ibn Siydah (458 AH) in his both dictionaries (Al-Mahkam) and (Al-Mukhasas).
 So we devoted this study to him in order to define his lexical approach and highlight the merit of the Kufics in this field. With its great impact, it did not receive sufficient study. wherefore, we aimed to shed light on the method of the Book of Words by Ibn Al-Skeet in collecting the language and its sources in the collection and how to document the translation Its mandates, the arrangement of its chapters, and its methodological foundations in arranging the entrances, organizing lexical materials, and determining the most important methodological features, and the most prominent methodological shortcomings in it.
