Abstract

The study is entitled (Interpretation of metaphor from the linguistic action perspective), is an attempt to present different points of view regarding metaphor because metaphor itself has a unique structure in communicating and producing meaning and represents an unknown and influential intellectual path of thought. It is a multi-dimensional linguistic -intellectual phenomenon that has been studied in many different sciences and fields. These studies also included the linguistic perspective and were subject to many theories and were interpreted at many levels Therefore, we present here the linguistic explanations for this phenomenon in the form of a series of interconnected coverages. The research is divided into two main sections and focuses on the phenomenon from a perspective (semantic, pragmatic, linguistic, Cognition, psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics) In the first section, the theoretical branches of semantics (substitution, comparison, tension, comparison and interaction (Davidson)) were discussed in detail about metaphor. In the second section, metaphor was dealt with from the perspective of one of Saussure’s most prominent dualities the relation of (Synchronic and Diachronic) with the aim of highlighting aspects of the difference between (metonymy and metaphor) from the perspective of the horizontal and vertical relationship. Then, in the theory of marking, metaphor was studied, showing that metaphor is more marking and emphatic in everyday speech than other sentence devices. Then the relationship between metaphor and pragmatics is briefly explained, followed by the study of metaphor from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.
