Abstract

The establishment of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was intended to restart the armed struggle against the Iraqi government, rebuild military bases, form a national liberation army, revive the political struggle. Thus, the leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), inside and outside, prepared for it, both projects and procedures (the plan of liberation) and (the follow-up of the armed forces). He designated June 1, 1976, as the day of the start of the armed struggle in southern Kurdistan against the Iraqi government. This paper consists of an introduction, two main sections, concluding points, and references. The first section sheds light on the primary detachments. The second section is about the armed conflict between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi Government forces in 1976. The concluding points are devoted to the most important ideas on the creation of the first detachments and the beginning of the armed struggle in southern Kurdistan. The research also tries to provide as much information as possible about its title on the basis of the sources.
