Meaning is one of the most important phenomena in human life; compared to other levels of language, it is more inclined and subject to change, not only with the levels of language but it is an integral duality with other sciences. Any science or any acoustic form, if devoid of meaning, it will render into a void form. Thus, the central meaning of phonetic and orthographic forms, and even signs will not have any value without meaning. Hence, this study deals with the semantic restrictions found in Kurdish language which indicate that there is literally no phonetic expression without restrictions, i.e., the expressions are not addressed randomly towards the audience or the addressee, rather the restrictions restrict the limits of their expressions. However, the restrictions are relative. There are many reasons why the restrictions are relative (one material follows another) or vice versa. Among the reasons are: potential of one material over another or vice versa, non-reversibility of all semantic signs, mental lexicon information, culture and customs, religion, history of the use of the material, using the materials in such forms and sizes, variation of properties of the same material, etc. Accordingly, the study has classified all the restrictions in the light of their constituent genres. It also explains why it is not right to follow one material with another.
