This research sheds light on a part of the history of Kalar town and its surroundings after the revolution of 14th July 1958. It contains an introduction and three sections. The first section gives information on Kalar from the beginning of the revolution of 14th July. Then, the second section is about the activities of the Communist Party. Eventually, the third section states the returning of Mala Mustafa(1903 – 1979) from the Soviet Union and the activation of PDK in Kalar and other nearby areas.
After the declaration of the Republic System, Kalar was influenced by the political facts and occasionally the tribe of Bagzada Al-Jaf left the area and departed to Iran. In Kalar, people started demonstration to support Abdul-Karim Qasim and his revolution. Consequently, two parties including PDK and Communist settled in the area, established their headquarters and started rearranging their members and supporters. In Kalar, the headquarters of Shabiba and Khabat were established by the Communist Party and the Democratic Party of Kurdistan (PDK) who could gather their followers around their headquarters and started activities. The followers of both parties were armed at that moment and they enthusiastically started struggling against each other. After the disintegration of the Kurdish and Iraqi government relationship, the PDK headquarters were closed and the followers of the party were arrested which led to the instability of the area and starting a battle between both sides.
