This research investigates the communication strategies of public relations in social networking. The purpose of this research is to find out the degree of utilizing communication strategies by the Department of public affairs in U.S General Consulate Erbil on Facebook. For reaching this current purpose the researcher has used descriptive research method and content analytical tools which are suitable for the subject and the purpose.The U.S General Consulate posts on Facebook during the past six months have been used as data, and the most significant results that have been found are: social networking has such an important role in public relations, and the U.S General Consulate posts have used announcement strategies the most, while they have used other strategies, which may allow discussion and consent by the public, to a much lesser degree
