Abstract

This research is in the field of morphometric properties and their relationship to the occurrence of the flood phenomenon in the Qoratu watershed. It depended on digital elevation models (DEM-12.5m) for the study area, and analyzed in (Arc Map GIS 10.8) software. The Qoratu watershed extends in the mountainous area of Kermanshah governorate in the State of Iran to a semi-mountainous area in the territory of Kurdistan Region, and in the Qoratu district belonging to Garmian administration in its sixth order, it flows into the Sirwan River, which is one of the continuous tributaries to feed the Sirwan river. The watershed is located between the Abbasan watershed in the north and Alwand in the south, This research aims to analyze the morphometric properties in the Qoratu watershed and its impact on the occurrence of the flood phenomenon, in order to determine the extent of the seriousness of this phenomenon and ways to control it. The research reached a set of results, the most important of which is, the overall shape of the watershed takes a rectangular shape, and based on the morphometric properties, the possibility of sudden flooding in the watershed and its secondary watersheds is slight.
