The main objective of this article entitled (Assessment of demand and tourism movement in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq) to clarify the concept of demand and identify its types, characteristics, division and application to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to provide natural and human tourism potentials in it, as well as by using the numbers of tourists, and in order to reach the goal of the research we used the descriptive and analytical methods through Studying the available data for the period 2007-2021, and analyzing it in the form of tables and figures, and the research reached a set of conclusions, including: The number of tourists was affected by the economic, political, security and health conditions that the region was exposed to, so their numbers increased with the improvement of these conditions and decreased with their deterioration. For example, the annual increase rates of tourists in their three categories (locals inside the region, locals outside the region, and foreigners) witnessed a great fluctuation for the years 2007-2021, The annual increase rate was the highest for the year (2021), reaching (494.4%) of the total number of tourists, and the lowest for the year (2020), with a rate of (-77.64%) of the total number of tourists. Finally the research reached a set of recommendations useful in taking many things into consideration to attraction of tourists and increase their numbers over the coming years.
