Abstract
Proverbs in any language reflect the culture, values, thoughts, beliefs, Experienced and mentality of nations, and their study can gain a clear understanding of the speakers' daily life experiences and their mentality in relation to environmental phenomena. The theories of the cognitive school, including cognitive semantics, as the theory of this school, is able to provide a detailed framework for studying the meaning of language based on our experiences in the surrounding world, how to conceptualize them. This research is entitled (Cognitive Metaphor of Proverbs in Kurdish). It is an attempt to highlight the principles of the great chain metaphor theory in cognitive semantics in the Kurdish language as one of the most prominent study areas of cognitive linguistics, related to the interpretation, cognitive and understanding of the meaning of proverbs.
For this purpose, this research interprets Kurdish proverbs in the framework of cognitive semantics, especially the Great chain metaphor theory, in order to obtain a way to conceptualize the speakers' daily experience.
