Abstract
Through the study of the climatic elements of the study area station for the period (2002-2015), it becomes clear to us that the general average of rain is (287.3) mm, and the maximum rainfall was during the month of January, when it reached (63) mm, and the least rainy fall was during the months of the summer season. The monthly average temperatures ranged between (9.9 ° C / in the month of January - 36.8 ° C / in the month of July). The climate of the region, according to the Amberger equation, is a semi-arid climate, where its value reached (36.01) after calculating the value of possible evaporation / transpiration according to the method of Eva Nof and Khosla and his subtraction from the amount of rain falling show us that there is a direct relationship between these values and temperatures, And an inverse relationship with the rates of rain and that the region suffers from a water deficit, which had a negative impact on reducing the areas cultivated with vegetables, as the areas planted with summer vegetables decreased from (7896 dunums) for the year 2009 to (2004 dunums) for the year 2018, As for winter vegetables, the area of cultivated land for the year 2009 reached (5672 dunams), but due to the water deficit, high temperatures, evaporation and lack of rain in recent years, it led to a decrease in the cultivated areas for the year 2018 to (1116 dunams), which was reflected in the provision of food security for the study area, which requires taking into account the use of means Modern irrigation to reduce water losses and the use of water harvesting techniques to store rainwater in the winter season and use it when needed
