Throughout history, women have played great roles in developing and enhancing the society. They have played their part, side by side with men, in all the walks of life, especially in terms of employment and business. Though according to the Laws and Regulations, male and female employees enjoy similar rights and duties within the Public Sector, female employees, however, often face challenges and hindrances, which in turn has led the female employees not to be able to perform their duties and/or enjoy their full rights. This is true both within the family (as a housewife), and at work (Office). The purpose of this study is to pinpoint and diagnose the major obstacles to the female employees in the Public Sector. The present research is a quantitative one. The methodology adopted is descriptive –analytical. The scope of the study involves (384) married female employees in Erbil City. The study has concluded that the biggest obstacles to the female employees at work are the following: Culture and social values and restrictions; lack of male support at home and housework; lack of social awareness in the society, at office and in the family as well.
